The vast majority of the fleet have been in Marina Rubicón for weeks and months, where up to four coach regattas have been held for both classes since last December.
128 crews from 36 countries will compete in the 49er and 49erFX World Championships that start officially tomorrow.
In 49erFX class there will be 52 crews from 25 nationalities at the starting line. As usual, the big names are the ones of the Brazilians Martine Grael and Kahena Kunze, Olympic champions in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020. Sweden's Vilma Bobeck and Rebecca Netzler will be fighting to retain the world title won in The Hague in 2023, while Spain's Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barceló, with the ticket to Paris 2024 already in their pocket, are always in the betting pools and will have the advantage of playing at home.
76 boats from 29 countries will compete in the men's 49er fleet, where there are also many candidates for the title but a clear favourite - the Dutch team of Bart Lambriex and Floris van der Werken (NED) who have won the last three world titles. Among many contenders are Lucas Rual and Emile Amoros (FRA) while Diego Botín and Florian Trittel, bronze medallists at last year's World Championships, are Spain's trump cards.
Our website and social media channels in Instagram and Facebook will be updated with news, photographs and videos every day.
